A superb condition MTL3. Not tested yet, watch this space.
OK it's time to fill the space. Loaded up with 36 shots
of  Ferrania Solaris film and my Makinon 20- 80 mm lens for back up I
took off to Batsford Arboretum for the Autumn colour. To be honest I should
have paid the extra and gone to the National Arboretum at Westonbirt.
Batsford is ok if your big on Japanese maples but was somewhat lacking for a
wide range of trees in a blaze of Autumn colour. However, I did get a few
nice shots and that 28 - 80 came in very handy, especially with the
polarizer I had fitted. The camera performed faultlessly, what do you
expect, it is a Praktica. Perhaps I'm biased but I have found these
Prakticas to be solid reliable machines which won't let you down. The
Pentacon lens on this one was not the best I've used but showed good at
close to middle distance with only the long range letting it down. I suspect
the diaphragm might be a bit lazy, this would account for the problem. The
more I use the big Makinon the more I like it, especially now that I have
the polarizing filter. It's such a versatile lens and with very little
distortion, unusual for a wide angle zoom. You can probably see where I
changed lens, at the church, because of the deep blue sky.
