| Like all Agfa Silettes this is a joy to use, mechanically I can't fault them. As you have probably already worked out I have 2 of these early Silettes with identical specifications. This one is cosmetically better than the other but at some stage in it's life the lens appears to have been subjected to a sandstorm. The front element is severely scratched but apart from this the camera is terrific. The viewfinder is as clear as crystal and the dials are smooth in action. I took it out for a trip to Salisbury but the Cathedral proved too much for it, however I did manage to get a nice shot of the grand entrance. Surprisingly when the exposure was right it turned in some good shots, despite the lens problem, with a good level of detail and quite sharp. It didn't like the overcast sky, something we've had to put up with this year, and there is a lot of faded rooftops but all in all a good outing. |
